Two newbuild projects for Ulstein Verft

DRAMMEN, December 14, 2011

L-3 Valmarine is contracted to deliver NACOS Platinum integrated navigation system to two medium-sized platform supply vessels of PX121 design from ULSTEIN. The ships with X-BOW® hull line design will be delivered from Ulstein Verft in Q1 and Q3 2012.

The NACOS Platinum integrated navigations system is based on L-3 Marine Systems latest technology platform and will be delivered in cooperation with Ulstein Power & Control AS. The network-based system, which is also ideal for state-of-the-art bridge systems on offshore vessels, consists of an S-band and an X-band IP radar, which are connected via an Ethernet network to multi-functional navigation workstations, including the bridge wing and aft bridge. Each of these workstations can be used as standard Illustration copyright: Ulstein Groupas a radar or ECDIS including conning functions. In addition to the Trackpilot for accurate steering, the company also supplied the new AIS transponder and VDR. Other navigational sensors are connected directly to the network system.

The ships will reach a speed of at least 15 knots, but the vessels are optimized for low fuel consumption at a speed of 12 knots. They are equipped for 24 persons in 17 cabins, with modern accommodation. The two ships will be build numbers 291 and 294 at Ulstein Verft.
